A new clip has gone online for Sam Mendes' Skyfall, the latest 007 film starring Daniel Craig. With a well placed excavator claw, Bond is able to cut through the back of a train and hop right in with cool ease (an image featured prominently in the trailers and TV spots). Not to spoil the fun, but I'll warn that you shouldn't get too excited. Yes, some first-ever footage from the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek Into Darkness awaits, but not as much as you might be hoping for. Abrams stopped by Conan O'Brien with clip in tow, and, well, I'll just leave you to the video. Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 17th, 2013 and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, and Peter Weller.
In celebration of October 5th's "Bond Day," Adele has unveiled her theme song for the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall, via her official website. “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall," she admitted. "There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I’m sure!" Apple has released the first trailer for Broken City, a crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Directed by Allen Hughes, one half of The Hughes Brothers (the directing duo who's most recent effort was 2010's The Book of Eli), the film charts messy extra-marital investigations, dirty politicians, and a cop caught in controversy. Broken City opens January 18th, 2013 and also stars Jeffrey Wright, Barry Pepper, Kyle Chandler, Justin Chambers, Natalie Martinez, Ambyr Childers, and Griffin Dunne. 2013 may present itself to be something of a reinvention for Netflix. In a rental market now saturated with new providers like Redbox, Verizon, and Amazon (among others), exclusive content will become key to strong positioning. Netflix will soon be doing just that in a bold way with the premieres of two highly anticipated original series: the fourth season of Arrested Development and David Fincher's House of Cards. Following "ruthless politician Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey), the majority whip of the House of Representatives, and his wife, Claire (Robin Wright), as they pursue power and all the good things that come with it in Washington," The New York Times has announced that House of Cards will release all thirteen episodes of the series on February 1, 2013. Directors for House of Cards include Fincher himself (for the first two episodes), James Foley, Joel Schumacher, Carl Franklin, Alan Coulter, and Charles McDougall, with a cast that also includes Kate Mara, Michael Kelly (Chronicle), Kristen Connolly (Cabin In The Woods), Corey Stoll (Midnight In Paris), and Mahershali Ali (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
Bruce Willis' John McClane is back for a fifth outing in A Good Day to Die Hard, a Russia-bound entry that pulls McClaine's son (played by Jai Courtney) in on the action. Directed by John Moore (Max Payne), A Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14, 2013 (Valentine's Day) and also stars Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
