Still riding high on Rottentomatoes with a 100% fresh rating after 25 reviews, Rian Johnson's long-awaited sci-fi thriller Looper will open in less than two weeks and help kick off what will (hopefully) be the strongest season for movies in 2012. FilmDistrict has released two new clips from the film: one a look at Jeff Daniels as the boss-figure reminiscing on Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Joe's rise in the organization, and the other involving Bruce Willis' introduction in the film -- a tense stand-off beside a cornfield. And, as an added bonus, Yahoo! Movies has unveiled a new Looper featurette entitled "What is a Looper." You can find both, along with a short synopsis, after the jump. Looper opens September 28th and also stars Emily Blunt, Garret Dillahunt, Piper Perabo, Paul Dano, and Noah Segan.
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
